On January 11, 2022, Ajinkya Rahane last participated in a test match for India against South Africa. He will have a second chance to win the World Test Championship when he rejoins the Indian Test team after receiving a harsh dismissal early last year. On February 19, 2022, he was released from the Test squad for the Sri Lanka Test series, and in March of the same year, he was also taken off the players’ annual central contract.
Prior to being fired recently, he was the one who guided India to one of the historic and memorable come-from-behind series wins in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2021–22 in Australia. This was after India had suffered a crushing loss in the first of the four test match series without its then-team captain Virat Kohli and had gradually lost many other senior players to injury over the course of the series.
He returned to domestic cricket, captained the team while playing for Mumbai hit a lot of runs, regained his rhythm, and entered his name into the Tata IPL 2023 auction pool. There were no other bidders for him in the Auction room, therefore The Chennai Super Kings purchased him at his basic price. He returns to the test side after losing out on a spot in the Indian Test team for 17 months.
Ajinkya Rahane Version 2.0 in the Tata IPL 2023

He was given a chance to play against Mumbai Indians in his home stadium, Wankhede Stadium, after missing the first several games. He did not let the team down, displaying a new level of class by scoring 61 runs in just 27 balls with a strike rate of 225, giving the innings momentum. He never looked back after that wicket, and he keeps making an impact for CSK with his free-flowing innings that are full of both class and ferocity.
Four of the five innings he has played for Chennai Super Kings have ended in a victory, demonstrating the kind of effect and value he has brought to the team in this year’s Tata IPL 2023. He scored 178 runs in the four innings, which resulted in a victory, with an astonishing strike rate of 207, an average of 59.3 and a dot ball percentage of just 16.3. Now that you think of a traditional stroke player, power-hitting is not what you connect with them.
His total of runs (209) includes 10 maximums. This is the reason why Ajinkya Rahane’s “New Version” is entertaining to watch, as it always has been anytime he is on the pitch. With a strike rate of 199 in the Tata IPL 2023 this year, Ajinkya Rahane leads the list of players with the best strike rate among all the power hitters, including Jos Buttler, Glenn Maxwell, and Faf Du Plessis.
Indian batters figures since Jan 2020 against SENA nations

Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara, who both stood like a wall for the team and frequently produced match-saving performances under pressure, were the men team India looked to take down the opposition’s bowling attack in difficult conditions prior to Rahane’s expulsion from the Indian test team. Since January 2020, he has scored 819 runs for India in 35 innings at an average of 24.09, including three half-centuries and a century.
He is one of the top 5 run scorers for India in foreign conditions. With 1095 runs in 28 innings at an average of 43.80, the Indian test team’s vice-captain at the time was the nation’s leading run scorer during the inaugural World Test Championship (2019–2021). His scores also included three centuries and six fifties.
Conclusion
With his return to the Indian Test team after a 17-month absence, the comeback player Ajinkya Rahane has demonstrated that anything we set our minds to in life is achievable if we keep working hard, day in and day out, with passion and determination, and with the belief that we can succeed.
