After a delightful journey for both teams through the league stages of the season, the Delhi Capitals piped MI for a direct qualification into the Finals of the inaugural season with a win over the UP Warriorz in the final game of the league stages. MI had to put in the extra effort of going through the Eliminators after having a dream start to their season. Finally, the day has arrived when we will have our first Tata WPL title holder. It’s truly a battle between the two best sides of the season.
Two legendary captains will walk out for the toss later in the evening. Harmanpreet Kaur, leading the MI unit, will face off against Meg Lanning, leading the DC unit. It’ll be interesting to see who comes out on top and write their names into history books to be crowned as the inaugural Tata WPL Champions.
Venue Analysis – Effective Bowlers

As we can see from the above graph, spinners have found more success than pacers, and particularly the off spinners have made an impact, with an impressive average of around 23, despite the fact that their economy rate has been on the higher side. However, the left-arm spinners and the leg spinners have kept the batters reasonably quiet. We are in for a battle between the left-arm spinners, with the likes of Saika Ishaque, Jess Jonassen, and Radha Yadav battling it out against each other later in the evening tonight. While all-rounders like Hayley Matthews, Amelia Kerr, and Alice Capsey would also play a vital role with the ball in hand.
Key Player Matchups

Meg Lanning, the DC captain, has been in superb form this season, providing good starts in the power play alongside Shafali Verma with the bat. She is also the leading run scorer with 310 runs in 8 innings. Wong has not only managed to keep the current orange cap holder quiet, but she has also managed to get the better of her. Lanning has the lowest strike rate against her, scoring 14 runs off 21 balls at a strike rate of 66.6. The South African all-rounder has had a relatively quiet season with the bat, but as we’ve seen, she’s a match-winning player. In crucial situations, she tends to step up her game.
Amelia Kerr, the right arm leg spinner, has kept her in check by bowling tighter lines against her. Marizanne Kamp has only scored 25 runs off the 28 balls she has faced, with a strike rate of 89.2 against the leg spinner. Despite her low returns with the bat in the last couple of games, the West Indian allrounder has been one of the top three run scorers for the Mumbai Indians this season, and she has made an impact with her bowling. Hayley Matthews has struggled to get going against Marizanne Kamp, not only keeping her quiet but also dismissing her once. H Matthews has only managed to score 26 runs off 39 balls, scoring at a strike rate of 66.6 against M Kamp.
Conclusion
The skippers from both teams would be looking to make full use of the matchups against each other to keep the top performers on either side in check. It’s going to be a test of who can hold their nerve under pressure and come out on top to be crowned the inaugural champions of the Tata WPL.
