We are halfway through the Tata IPL 2023, which has already been an exciting season with of drama, nail-biting last-over wins and a lot more action both on and off the pitch thanks to the new Impact Player rule. The second half of the season promises to be even more interesting and action-packed as many teams are tied for the same points across the points table. Most of the teams will be trying to secure their spots in the top four spots in the points table to advance into the next stage of the season, which is the tournament’s playoff stages.
Let’s now look at the top players thus far in the season, halfway through. The process we applied is known as multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM). With the aid of a few parameters we take into account, this strategy enables us to evaluate alternative options. The options in our situation are the various batters and bowlers. Runs, Average, Strike Rate, and Balls Per Boundary are our criteria for batters, and Wickets, Strike Rate, Balls Per Boundary Conceded, and Dot Balls Percentage are our criteria for bowlers. All of these criteria are based on what we think will significantly affect the game’s outcome.
Top-Rated Batters in the Top-Order

Faf Du Plessis, the captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore, has been one of their most reliable hitters thus far this season. He leads the team in runs scored with 422 in just 8 innings, including 5 half-centuries, and has a staggering average of 60.29 and a strike rate of 167.46. Along with Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell, he has been the main force behind the entire RCB batting lineup, as evidenced by his combined score of 0.96. He assumes the position of the first opener.
Ajinkya Rahane, an Indian legend who currently plays for the Chennai Super Kings, has remade himself as a T20 hitter while maintaining his traditional style of play. Coming in at number three, he has created a lot of impact striking, taking the third spot in the best 11 after Faf Du Plessis & K Mayers, with an amazing strike rate of 189.83.
In Quinton de Cock’s absence, Kyle Mayers, who played for LSG last season but saw little action, was given the chance to open the innings alongside KL Rahul. By seizing the opportunity with both hands, he has been able to keep Quinton de Cock waiting for his chance to return to the starting lineup thanks to his impactful work at the top of the order for LSG. He shares the second opening spot with Faf Du Plessis according to his 0.82 score.
Top-Rated Batters in the Middle-Order

Tilak Verma was the Mumbai Indians batter that stood out for them with consistent performances, and with a score of 0.72, he fits in at the number 4 place in our team. Tilak Verma had a great start to this year’s Tata IPL. He played some eye-catching innings amongst a disappointing show by all the other Mumbai Indians batsmen.
Nicholas Pooran, a West Indian power batter who has the ability to hit game-winning hits, has finally made it to the Tata IPL. He has earned back the LSG management’s faith in him by producing some outstanding innings for the Lucknow Super Giants. He will bat at number 6 and will be our wicket-keeper with a score of 0.87.
In the final over of the Tata IPL against the Gujarat Titans, Rinku Singh, whose name will live on for a very long time, accomplished something never previously seen in a run chase. He struck five consecutive maximums while pursuing 31 runs.
Top-Rated Overall Bowlers

Mark Wood made a remarkable comeback in his second game in the Tata IPL, which came after a gap of five long years, despite having a forgettable Tata IPL debut while playing for CSK back in 2018. His fast pace has occasionally tormented the hitters this season. He picked up a five-wicket haul in his IPL comeback game, this time while playing for one of the new franchises Lucknow Super Giants.
Arshdeep Singh, the young Indian left-arm pacer has continued to shine in the Tata IPL and is now solidifying his position as the pace attack’s leader for Punjab Kings as he works to raise the bar for pace bowlers in India. Mohammed Siraj, who appears to have reinvented himself as a T20 bowler, is having one of his greatest seasons ever while playing for RCB in the Tata IPL.
