Key Highlights from the 1st innings

Batting woes continue for SRH

SRH’s poor batting form continues as they only could manage to score 115 runs in their quota of 20 overs. Tim Southee got better of Wriddhiman Saha in the first over of the match. Jason Roy, who had played well in his first match, was picked by Shivam Mavi with a score of just 10 runs. Priyam’s sluggish innings had put more pressure on the other SRH players, ultimately leading to their demise.

KKR’s strategy of ‘Spin to Win’

Shakib’s inclusion in the KKR roster was unexpected, given the fact that the team already had two specialist spin bowlers. Shakib Al Hasan made an impression in his first over, not with his left-arm spin, but with his quickness, catching Williamson short of the crease while attempting to swipe a single. As Narine stifled the flow of runs, Chakravarty took two crucial wickets. The spin trio of Shakib, Narine, and Chakravarthy ended with a combined figure of 12-0-58-3.

Key Highlights from the 2nd innings

Shubhman Gill – Back in the form

Gill carefully used his feet to throw Holder off his lengths, and in the 12th over, he hauled him imperiously for two boundaries to mark a breakthrough. He then went after Rashid and Malik, who made a little error by trying to go full blast.

Jason Holder efforts in vein

Jason Holder has been SRH’s finest performer in the second phase, but even his two wickets were not enough to keep KKR at bay.

Young Gun Umar Malik

What a way to make an impression with pure speed. Umran Malik, a 21-year-old Srinagar bowler, blew it up as soon as he joined the scene in the fourth over. Malik bowled the fastest delivery by an Indian in IPL 2021 with the third ball of his first over, which clocked 150kph. He was initially with the Sunrisers as a net bowler and was signed as a short-term Covid-19 replacement for T Natarajan. He was efficient in the end, conceding only 27 runs in his four overs.
